Parents’ & Teachers’ Association

The Highfield Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) is an important part of the school, it is your community and every parent at Highfield is a member. They provide social events for the parents, staff and girls and organise a series of fund-raising activities over the year.

The PTA is run by a committee of parents with 2 reps from each year in the school. Regular events include discos for the girls, a Christmas fair, a summer party, a film night and for the parents a quiz evening and wine tastings.

They also provide presents for the children at Christmas and pay for the Pantomime in school. All the money they raise is given to the school to provide extra resources for the girls. All parents are asked to subscribe to the association and are welcome to join in any of the activities or to join the committee.

Quiz Night 2017

Over seventy parents and teachers braved a cold February night to compete in the ever popular PTA Quiz Night. 12 teams competed for the honour of 2017 Quiz Champions, with food provided by local firm The Spicy Chef and drinks from the Marlow Brewery.

The evening was a huge success, filled with much quiz-based fun and laughter with parents from every school year represented in a highly competitive atmosphere!
After 10 exciting rounds, the team from Year 5 made up of the Harrands, Strachans and Millards topped the results table, just four points ahead of the joint 2nd teams, Quiz Team Aguilera and Quizzy McQuizface!

We raised £766.60 for the PTA fund and there will be a PTA meeting on Tuesday 21st March to agree on the next spend for the school. We also raised £235 for MacMillan Nurses in memory of the late Mrs Ash. Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to another great evening.

Halloween Disco

halloween-disco-3The half term holiday got off to a truly spooky and spectacular start on Thursday 20th October, when Highfield held its first Halloween Disco. The girls really embraced the Halloween spirit and all arrived in fantastic costumes and with many entries for the pumpkin competition. Dave the Disco did an amazing job keeping the girls entertained with games, dancing and screaming competitions (sorry Mrs Leach!). The parents bar was a great success and the whole event raised £336.91 for the PTA. An extremely big thank you goes out to all the parent helpers who gave up their time to contribute to the smooth running of the disco, Mrs Fontenelle and Mr Syd for all their helphalloween-disco-2 and of course to all the parents and girls for supporting the event. Sophie Oldroyd in Yr 3 won the carving pumpkin competition and Hattie Ball in Yr 5 won best costume!

MovieNightMovie Night

On Friday 6th May, the Year 6 girls, teachers and the PTA organised a double-bill Movie Night. It was the first ‘collaborative’ event between the girls, the teachers and the PTA and we thought that worked really well.

The girls designed the tickets, organised the raffle and dished out the goodie bags.

Lower School voted to watch Inside Out and Upper School went for Big Hero 6. About 30 girls did the double-bill and watched both films.

Year 6 parents donated fantastic raffle prizes which got the girls very excited and a number of teachers gave up their precious Friday night after a long week to support them.

We’re pleased to announce that the Movie Night made just over £450 profit. The girls wanted to put on the evening to raise funds for their charity of the year which is Hemihelp and they are over the moon at the amount raised. The PTA were thrilled to support them and thank you again for all your support.

Here at Highfield Prep School we’re busy fundraising by collecting old British or foreign coins and notes, even obsolete currency. Initially you’ll see lots of posters around the school as well as the collection bucket. Once all the currency has been collected we send it to who exchanges it into cash we can use. The bucket will be here all year so keep it coming please.
